Afenginns homebrewed and unique style has been categorized as ‘Bastard Etno’. A dynamic style that grows out of world, punk and Nordic folk music and travels from the smallest pianissimo to wild and roaring parts. With high tempo, great joy and border seeking musical ideas, Afenginn has built up a reputation of virtuosity and of excellent live shows the past years – Afenginn means intoxication and strength!

They are famous for charismatic and amazing live performances with explosions of pure energy. The magazine Gaffa called the Roskilde Festival 2010 show:

The orchestra plays exclusively original compositions and have performed in clubs, festivals and radio and television shows in Europe, USA (e.g. SXSW) and Asia with more than 350 concerts in the past years.

The four  albums ‘Retrograd’, ‘Akrobakkus’, ‘Reptilica Polaris’ and ‘Bastard Etno’ have received  rave reviews and several rewards and nominations. Afenginn has been selected to take part in the’ YOUNG ELITE’ program by the Danish Arts Council.
In 2009 Afenginn won a Danish music World Award for Best Contemporary Artist and most recent the album ‘Bastard Etno’ was awarded Best Danish World Album 2010.
Afenginn is always ambitious seeking new adventures. The latest proof was the Copenhagen Summer Ballet 2010 ‘SOMA’ – a large scale modern ballet project at Bellevue Theatre in Copenhagen with the Cross Connection Ballet Company, based on Afenginns music.
